Be Still and Find Rest

Today’s Reading: Exodus 17:1-7

Hebrews 4:2 — For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened.

God promises that we will find rest. Moses was the leader of the twelve tribes of Israel, but he followed the Lord. Wherever the cloud went, Moses followed, so God was the true leader of the nation. The Lord was the true shepherd that was leading His flock through the wilderness.

Following God, Moses led the people to Rephidim, but there was no water there. The people blamed Moses and complained that he had brought them to a place where they would all die. Moses asked them why they complained to him and asked, “Why do you test the Lord?”

The people tested the Lord because they had no faith in God. They could not enter into rest because they did not look to God or trust Him. Surely, if God led His people to a place, He could and would provide for them there. But the people would not listen to Moses’ message from God, so they could not rest in faith. Instead, they quarreled and complained.

Human beings love to quarrel, complain, blame, and talk about things they know little to nothing about. We like to play God and set ourselves up as judges even though we do not know what is in people’s hearts. We do not rest and allow God to do His perfect work, but we meddle with our tongues speaking empty, idle words that do more harm than good.

I think that when God said, “Be still and know that I am God,” He meant for us to be quiet and let God be God over people and situations. God wants us to find our rest in Him and listen to what He has to say instead of listening to what my old heart says or what other people are saying. God has a purpose, a plan, and a provision for every situation that He knows. Let’s be united by faith in what we hear from God and rest.

When 4-5 people attend the Wednesday evening service, where has God gone?

Because of weather? Or busy schedule? Or language barrier? Or something else.

We all prayed together.

Our goodness of God sent 10 people last night! Praise the Lord!

Yes, You are our God.

You are with us.

Please, show us the direction!

We want to be there wherever you are!
