Today’s Reading: Isaiah 40:6-8
Isaiah 40:8 — The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.
God promises eternal beauty. In some climates there is an autumn season when the days grow shorter and colder and the flowers, grasses, and leaves begin to wither and fade and die. The Bible compares us to these plants.
As the years pass, our bodies lose their youth and vigor, and the signs of age give us a sort of faded beauty. Eventually we die. But there is a kind of beauty that never fades and never dies. It is the beauty of a soul that stands upon the eternal word of our God.
I have seen this beauty shining forth from the eyes of elderly people who are standing on death’s threshold. When they hear the word of God spoken or in the words of a song, a peaceful, joyful light fills their eyes as the spirit within them thrills at the truth.
Our souls crave the bread from heaven and the living water that we need more than our necessary food (Matthew 4:4). We are spiritual beings that were made by God to thrive on the spiritual food and drink that is derived from the word of our God. We need to hear God’s voice to be content and fulfilled.
The seeds of God’s Word are planted in our hearts and souls and cultivated by the Holy Spirit to make a beautiful garden of righteousness and holiness that will never wither or fade. Your transformation is the result of God’s Word and His Spirit cultivating eternal life within you. I pray that you are in a place where you are receiving God’s Word and growing more beautiful every day.

“ It is the beauty of a soul that stands upon the eternal word of our God.”
So after I accepted Jesus as my Savior, I thank God for making my old sin nature die and for making me grow into a new nature.I see the new person inside me gradually becoming younger and more mature as I live according to the word of God. Although this is how “our bodies lose their youth and vigor, and the signs of age give us a sort of faded beauty.” However, as the new person becomes beautiful, the outer person-the aging body-also becomes a little more beautiful, but the limit of human beings is that we cannot stop the change.
