When Jesus Speaks

Acts 18:10 — For I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you.

Have you ever wondered, “Am I doing the right thing? Am I really where God wants me to be?” From time to time, I have those thoughts, perhaps because I am feeling discouraged or because my circumstances have changed. But then God finds a way to tell me to stay right where I am and to continue to be faithful to what He has given me to do.

Paul was serving God in Corinth. He made tents to earn money to support himself, and on the Sabbath he went to the synagogue to preach and teach the gospel. Paul was opposed and insulted by people in the synagogue, so after a while he no longer went to the synagogue on the Sabbath. Instead, Paul began preaching and teaching in the house of Titus Justus, a Greek man, who lived right next door to the synagogue!

Paul must have wondered if leaving the synagogue was a good idea. It was true that once he began preaching and teaching in the house of Titus Justus that people began to become believers in Jesus (including the leader of the synagogue Paul had left). Corinthian people were being baptized.

But Paul must have wondered if he was really where he should be because Jesus came to Paul in a vision to encourage him. “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking; do not be silent. For I am with you and no one will lay a hand on you, because I have many people in this city.” How wonderful these words must have been to Paul!

Paul wrote, “Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). Unless God moves you, stay where you are. Continue doing what God has given to you to do, even if it seems like nothing is happening. Everything is beautiful in its time (Ecclesiastes 3:10). There is a time and a season for everything.

Do not be discouraged, my friend. Jesus is with you and He will let you know what to do.  When Jesus speaks, you will know, you will obey, and you will have peace.

"There is a time and a season for everything."

Ecclesiastes 3:11 NLT

Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.

"모든 것에는때와 시간이 있다."

전도서 3:11 RNKSV

[11] 하나님은 모든 것이 제때에 알맞게 일어나도록 만드셨다. 더욱이, 하나님은 사람들에게 과거와 미래를 생각하는 감각을 주셨다. 그러나 사람은, 하나님이 하신 일을 처음부터 끝까지 다 깨닫지는 못하게 하셨다.
