The Voice of the Lord

Today’s Reading: Psalm 29

Psalm 29:11 — The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.

God promises the blessings of His voice. David wrote about the glorious voice of the Lord in Psalm 29. “The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.” All of creation responds to the voice of the Lord, but only those people who worship the Lord cry out, “Glory!”

It is sad but true that only angels and humans choose not to obey God’s voice. All the rest of God’s creation finds meaning and pleasure in His voice. If people respond positively to the Lords’ voice, they are blessed.

The Lord told the Israelites that they would be blessed with health if they listened to and obeyed His voice (Exodus 15:26). Jesus told the Laodicean church that if they heard His voice and opened the door to Him, they would be blessed with His presence and have fellowship with Him (Revelation 3:20).

We hear God’s voice when we read and study His Word, and then obey what He says. Another way to hear the Lord’s voice is through other Spirit-filled believers (Proverbs 15:22). Godly counselors speak to us using God’s Word. A third way to hear God’s voice is to pray and ask God for wisdom (James 1:5). God will give us His wisdom through a sermon, the words of a friend, through a spiritual song, or through the Holy Spirit prompting us to remember God’s Word.

The voice of the Lord is powerful and gives His people strength and peace. Our souls by default cling to the dust, but God’s Word—His voice—can give us life and strengthen us (Psalm 119:25, 28). Psalm 119:107 is a great prayer for a difficult day: “I am severely afflicted; give me life, O Lord, according to Your word!” Ask God to speak to you with His voice of grace and truth today!

May the Holy Spirit open my eyes to see the God whose voice covers the waters. And see Jesus as the one who calms or storms and blesses me with peace.

Thank you, Jesus!

"우리는 하나님의 음성을 듣습니다.

1) 우리가 그분의 말씀을 읽고 공부한 다음, 그분이 말씀하시는 것을 순종할 때.

2) 다른 성령 충만한 신자들을 통해서(잠언 15:22). 경건한 상담자들은 하나님의 말씀을 사용하여 우리에게 말합니다.

3) 기도하고 하나님께 지혜를 구하십시오(야고보서 1:5)."
