Today’s Reading: Psalm 32:5-11
Psalm 32:8 — I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.
God promises to teach us. Have you ever acted like a know-it-all? Have you ever been stubborn or proud and refused to listen to someone who was trying to show or tell you how to do something? Have you ever wished that you had listened better?
God has so much to teach us about Himself, about us, and about the best way to live. He promised that He would instruct and teach us and then watch over us as we try to apply His teaching in our lives.
First Corinthians 8:2 says, “Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much.” Sometimes we are like a proud horse or a stubborn mule and we refuse to receive God’s instruction. We think, “I already know that” or “I don’t need to know that” and ignore what the Holy Spirit wants to teach us.
We endanger ourselves when we stop listening to God’s Word, when we start thinking that we don’t need to hear the Shepherd’s voice. We end up lost in a far country where nobody cares about us. Fortunately, God always has His eye on us and He awaits our cry for help so He can show Himself gracious to us.
God wants us to live a life without regrets, and we will never regret listening to God’s teaching and applying it to our lives by doing His will. Jesus said that He always spoke and did what His Father told Him to say and do. Jesus was the most humble man who ever lived. In humility, we ought to ask God to teach us how to live this day.
