Son Life

Today’s Reading: 1 Thessalonians 1

1 Thessalonians 1: 9-10 —  You turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

God promises His Son from heaven. We need the Son. We desperately need the Son of God, Jesus Christ, for life. First John chapter five verse twelve says it very clearly: “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.”

Life without Christ is lifeless. We can go through days, months, years like lifeless zombies apart from Christ. Ecclesiastes 1:15 says, “What is crooked cannot be made straight, and what is lacking cannot be counted.” Life is absolutely meaningless and broken without the life of Christ.

Life without Christ is just day after day of being robbed, killed, and destroyed by the world, the flesh, and the devil. These enemies lie and tell us that their way is life when they are actually robbing us of life, killing us, and destroying us. Life outside of Christ is an illusion of what life is really supposed to be.

Jesus came to give us His life, an abundant life, a full life, a real life that adds to our joy, that overflows with living water, and builds us up in love. Christ’s life is based on grace and truth that helps us overcome the enemy’s attacks, delivers us from evil, and fills us with the fullness of God.

We are waiting expectantly for the Son to come from heaven to call us home to Himself. While we wait, we have the honor and privilege of serving the living and true God and experiencing life in the Son. Thank you, Father, for sending us Your Son!
