Today’s Reading: Philippians 4:6-9

Philippians 4:7 — And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

God promises peace. Peace comes when we entrust everything to God. We pray and tell God what we need and then thank Him for what He has already done. We talk to God through prayer by faith in His grace. Now we can have peace since we know that our great God can be trusted to always do what is best.

When we cast all (not some) of our cares upon Jesus (and leave them with Him), we can rest assured that the only One who always knows the right thing to do is in control. That should put our hearts and minds at ease. Peace will stand guard over our minds and emotions with a big “Do Not Disturb” sign.

God’s peace is hard to explain to others who are not experiencing it the way that you are.

You can be in the same boat in the same storm with someone, but because you have had a little talk with Jesus, you can go to the back of the boat and lie down on a pillow next to Jesus and sleep. Meanwhile, the other person is panicking, being mentally and emotionally overwhelmed by the sight and sound of the wind and the waves.

The peace we have in Christ Jesus is hard for others to understand unless they experience it for themselves. God’s peace fills us with thoughts that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable; and these thoughts produce a relaxed mental attitude that allows us to enjoy life in Jesus. Shalom, shalom to you today in Jesus.
