Today’s Reading: John 14:1-11
John 14:2 — In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
God promises that He will care for us forever. Jesus has returned to the Father to prepare a place for all of us who have believed in Him for salvation and eternal life. One day soon, Jesus will return to bring home His bride the church. We will finally be able to meet the Father and dwell in the house of the Lord forever!
Jesus tells us, “No one comes to the Father except through Me.” We get to know God through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the “spitting image” (the exact likeness) of His Father. Jesus said that anyone who has seen Him has seen the Father, because they are that much alike. They are the finest example of the expression “like father, like son.”
Jesus wants everyone to meet HIs Father, and to do so, one must put his or her faith in Jesus. Jesus continually emphasizes belief, faith, and trust in Him alone. Jesus also uses relationship words to describe how we can come to the Father in heaven: “Come to Me. Abide in Me. Follow Me.” To meet the Father, the old expression is true: It is not what you know, but who you know. You must be related to Jesus to meet His Father.
Once you become a member of God’s family, you are cared for forever. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit take care of the family of God. You have a place prepared for you in the Father’s house when you believe and become related to Jesus. God Himself becomes your security and your significance.
Jesus was secure and significant in His relationship with the Father. He said that the Father was in Him and He was in the Father. As believers, Christ is in us, and we are in Christ. Our life is hid with Christ in God today! We are sheltered in the arms of God where we are secure in His love. One of these days, we will be embraced by the everlasting arms of love. Hallelujah! What a great expectation!
