Return and Be Restored

greatergracekorea

Job 22:23 —If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored.

The Hebrew word “shub” is used many times in the Old Testament, often by prophets who exhort God’s people to return to the Lord. To repent or to “shub” is to change one’s mind and turn back to God.

A sinner is someone who has turned away from God to follow his or her own way. A sinner disobeys God’s voice, God’s Word, and God’s will and does not walk in God’s way.

Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.” The sinner’s way leads to death. Ephesians 2 tells us that sinners are the walking dead who are following the course of this world, which is the same thing as following the way of the Devil.

The Lord wants us to return to Him when we find ourselves walking in the wrong direction. Jesus wants us to turn to Him and not turn back to the old life, the old ways that do us no good. Like the song says, “I have decided to follow Jesus. No turning back.” If you haven’t been to church for a while, you should return to church in obedience to Hebrews 10:25. If you are away from the Lord ion any way today, return to Him and you will be restored.

"The Lord wants us to return to Him when we find ourselves walking in the wrong direction."

Hosea 14:9 NLT

[9] Let those who are wise understand these things. Let those with discernment listen carefully. The paths of the Lord are true and right, and righteous people live by walking in them. But in those paths sinners stumble and fall.

Through Hosea, God speaks endlessly to the people of Israel. You wanted it so badly that I sent you kings and did everything for you. But how can you not understand my love for you? You who live in idolatry and sin and never understand my heart. Please, come back to me! Come back to the church!
