Pure, Piercing, and Powerful

Today’s Reading: Psalm 12

Psalm 12:6 — The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.

God promises pure truth. Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” Have you ever heard the truth that sets you free?

Perhaps it was the truth of the gospel that opened your eyes and opened your heart to the love of the Savior. Perhaps it was a sermon about the grace of God that liberated you from the condemnation of your fallen heart. Perhaps it was the words of the twenty-third psalm that gave you comfort and set you free from the fear of death.

The words of the Lord are purer than silver that has been refined seven times. The purity of God’s Word and its power to redeem, to enlighten, to deliver, to cleanse, and to make all things new is astonishing. You must experience the power of God’s words to truly appreciate how transformative they are.

The words of the Lord can pierce through the darkness and the lies that surround a proud, stony heart and leave a man or woman weeping on their knees in humility, begging God for forgiveness and salvation. One little word ministered by the Spirit can be a spark that sets a heart on fire to win the lost.

In this world where words are used to manipulate and control people through lies and fear, it is so important that God’s words are proclaimed to the lost, the confused, the despairing, and the hurting. The ancient words inspired by the Holy Spirit and recorded in the Bible are needed more than ever today. Share the Word and save someone’s life.

" The purity of God’s Word and its power to redeem, to enlighten, to deliver, to cleanse, and to make all things new is astonishing."

1) Power to redeem:

the action of saving or being saved from sin.

2) Power to enlighten:to illuminate, shed light on, or instruct our understanding.

3) Power of deliver: people delivered in the power of others, usually their enemies.

4) Power of cleanse:God's removal of the guilt and power of sin.

5) Power to make all things new:Christ “made all things new” through his death and resurrection.
