Prayer Protection

Today’s Reading: Ephesians 6:18-19

Ephesians 6:18 — Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.

God promises protection. In Ephesians chapter 6, Paul writes about the spiritual armor for the believer. Prayer is the last piece of the armor, and Paul encourages us to pray for our fellow Christian soldiers, God’s saints. Prayer protects God’s people.

In Acts 12, King Herod Agrippa killed James the brother of John, and because this action pleased people, Herod arrested Peter. Peter was guarded by four squads of soldiers and was scheduled to be placed on trial and killed during the Jewish Passover, just like Jesus had been. But the church prayed for Peter, and God sent an angel to rescue him from prison.

When King Hezekiah was threatened by the Assyrian king with the destruction of Judah, Hezekiah went to the temple, spread out the threatening letter he had received, and prayed to the Lord to rescue him and his people. God answered by sending an angel who destroyed most of the Assyrian army that same night.

Daniel and his three friends were going to be destroyed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon because no one could interpret King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. Daniel told his friends to pray and seek mercy from the God of heaven. God answered their prayers by giving Daniel the interpretation of the dream. Many lives were saved.

Pray for God to protect you, your children, your spouse, and your other family members. Pray for God to protect your brothers and sisters in Christ. Seek the mercy of God. God preserves and protects us from the enemy!
