Our Hope

Today’s Reading: Romans 4:13-25

Romans 4:20 — No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God.

God promises hope. There was no way, humanly speaking, for Abraham and Sarah to have a child. Both of them were much too old, and Sarah was barren. But God had promised that Abraham would be the father of many nations, and that his offspring would be as numerous as the sands on the seashore, as the stars in the night sky.

God promise — God’s Word — was Abraham’s hope. Abraham believed what God said. Abraham had faith in God and he was confident that God could and would keep His promise. Biblical hope is not an uncertain wish for something to happen; it is a certain certainty.

Abraham’s faith grew as he waited on God to fulfill His promise. Because of hope, Abraham could wait and see what God would do. God used Abraham during the waiting time to be a blessing to people, so Abraham blessed the name of the Lord and gave glory to God.

Do you know that you have a certain hope? God has made precious promises to you as a believer. God will keep them all because He is the divine Promise Keeper. Put your hope like an anchor in Jesus Christ, so when the storms of life come, you may be tossed up and down by the tempest, but you will not be moved from the grace of God.

You have a true and living hope whose name is Jesus. Have faith in Him, like Abraham had faith in his friend, God.
