More Than Enough

Today’s Reading: 2 Kings 6:8-17

2 Kings 6:16 — “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!”

God promises to be more than enough. Elisha’s servant thought that it would be impossible to escape from the Aramean soldiers, but when the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, he saw that God’s forces vastly outnumbered the army from Aram. God is greater than any enemy.

Who are the enemies of the believer? The world, the flesh, and the devil are, and they are no match for our God. Jesus said that He had overcome the world (John 16:33). The flesh was crucified with Christ (Romans 6:6). John wrote that Jesus destroyed the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).

In Revelation 3:21, Jesus tells the church at Laodicea that He conquered and sat down with His Father on the throne. Nothing and no one can oppose Christ the Victor or keep us from His love (Romans 8:26-39). And it is because of Christ and His love that we can overwhelmingly conquer our enemies.

God is more than enough for anything that you may face in your life. God is everywhere present, so He is with you always. God is all-knowing, so He knows you and your situation intimately and perfectly. God is all-powerful, so He can do whatever is needed, which is more than whatever we could think to ask for (Ephesians 3:20).

God is more than sufficient. He is huperekperissou — exceedingly abundantly more, super-infinitely more than anything we can imagine. He is the God of impossible things. And because God is infinitely good and wise, we can trust that He will always do the right thing and the best thing for us in every situation, whether we can see or comprehend it or not. Always trust God and do not be afraid of the enemy.
