Meeting Jesus

Today’s Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 — Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words.

God promises we will meet Jesus. As you read John’s gospel, take note of all the personal meetings Jesus had with people. When Jesus met with people, their lives were changed.

In John 1, Jesus met John, Andrew, Peter, Philip, and Nathaniel and called them to follow Him. In John 2, Jesus attended a wedding and performed a miracle that saved the newlyweds and their family from being disgraced. In John 3, Jesus met Nicodemus and told him that he could be born again. In John 4, Jesus met with the Samaritan woman and revealed to her the living water. 

On and on it goes. Jesus meets people and their lives are touched in some way by God’s grace and truth. Jesus was sent by the Father to this world, full of grace and truth to reveal the love of God to everyone He met (John 1:14). Sick people were healed, demon-possessed people were delivered, dead people were raised back to life. Truth seekers saw and heard divine Truth made flesh. Sinners were forgiven and given eternal life.

It is so important that we meet Jesus every day. He is coming soon to catch us up into the clouds to meet Him in the air. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want it to seem like I am meeting a stranger, but a friend that I have known for some time. We are going to be with Jesus forever, so let’s get close to Him now.

Here are the encouraging words for today: Jesus loves you and He is coming soon to meet you face-to-face. The One who loves you best and loves you most is coming for you to be with you forever.
