Life is Tough but God is Faithful

Today’s Reading: Lamentations 3:19-33

Lamentations 3:22-23 — The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

God promises His faithfulness. Thank God for His faithfulness! Life can be rough and tough, especially for Christians who are being targeted by the enemy. The Christian life of discipleship is not for the faint of heart because of spiritual warfare.

When Jeremiah wrote Lamentations, he was in the depths of despair. The city he loved was in ruins and the people he loved had been taken into captivity. So much had been lost and Jeremiah grieved while shedding bitter tears.

But Jeremiah dared to hope because he had learned one thing: the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. Despite all evidence to the contrary, God had never stopped loving Jeremiah and the other people of Judah. God’s love was still at work, day by day, to bring about God’s promises.

Jeremiah survived this terrible time because he had learned to wait on God quietly as a youth. He had experienced bearing a yoke from a young age. Jeremiah’s parents had allowed him to sit alone in silence with his mouth in the dust. His parents had allowed him to be insulted by enemies and taught him to turn the other cheek and be struck again by enemies.

Jeremiah’s parents taught him that life is not always fair, not always easy, and that many things will not go your way. Life can be painful because we live in a broken world filled with sinners who hurt each other, even in the church! Jeremiah had been taught to put his hope in God and wait for God’s salvation.

God will always come through in some way for His children because He is faithful. Endure by grace and see God’s goodness come to your rescue.

“Endure by grace and see God’s goodness come to your rescue.”

“You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭2,3NLT

The future is dark. There seems to be no way. Then I go to the Psalms because God is faithful!
