Today’s Reading: Revelation 22:7-21
Revelation 22:20 — He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
God promises that Jesus is returning; look for Him. When the apostle John wrote the revelation he had seen and heard in the First Century, Jesus was coming soon. That is what Jesus told him. How much more true is that truth today? As we witness the events taking place in our world and look at them in the light of the prophetic words of the Scriptures, we can see that the signs of Christ’s return are everywhere.
In today’s reading, the Lord says, “Behold I am coming soon” twice and “Surely I am coming soon.” I am coming soon. I am coming soon. I am coming soon. Jesus is emphasizing that His return is imminent. We should be expecting to see Him at any moment.
There was a solar eclipse recently, and some people thought that event might herald Christ’s return for the church, His bride. But the Bible says that Jesus will come like “a thief in the night” when the world is not expecting anything to happen. People will be going about their ordinary routines of daily life when suddenly a trumpet will sound, and those who have believed in Christ for their salvation shall be caught up in the twinkling of an eye to meet the Lord in the air.
Are you looking forward to that moment? If you are a believer, you ought to say, “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!” Christ wants us to desire His coming for us as much as He desires to come for us. Jesus is waiting for the Father to tell Him, “Go! Get Your bride. Bring home My children.”
We should be like the five wise virgins in Christ’s parable of the Ten Virgins found in Matthew 25:1-13. We should be born again and living with our eyes focused on Jesus, our bridegroom. We should be living our lives in preparation for His coming. Read Titus 2:11-14 for more details.
Get ready! Jesus is coming. Look forward to seeing Him soon!
