Today’s Reading: John 19:21-30
John 19:30 — When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished,” and He bowed his head and gave up His spirit.
God promises to finish His work. Jesus finished a work that had been planned before the foundation of the world. Before the world was created, the Father and the Son established the eternal covenant of redemption. This plan was so absolutely certain that Jesus was called the Lamb who was slain before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8; 1 Peter 1:18-20).
When Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, God had a plan of redemption ready. The Lord said to the serpent, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” Jesus was the Seed of the woman who was predicted to come and destroy the works of the old serpent, the devil.
When Jesus died on the cross, every prophecy about Christ’s work of redemption was fulfilled, and soon the prophecies about His burial and resurrection would also be fulfilled. When God plans something, He perfectly and completely finishes the work.
God has made promises to do a great work in the lives of born-again believers. God has a plan for every believer’s life, an Individualized Transformation Program. Will God finish the work He began in your life when you became a child of God? Yes.
This is absolutely certain: “I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return] (Philippians 1:6 AMP).
God is working in you, and His work comes with a satisfaction guarantee. God guarantees that you will be completely satisfied when His work is finished!
