How Can God Do This?

Ezekiel 20:43 — There you shall remember your ways and all your deeds with which you have defiled yourselves, and you shall loathe yourselves for all the evils that you have committed.

If you read Ezekiel 20:42 in isolation from the surrounding verses, you miss the context of God’s great love. I encourage you to read Ezekiel 20:39-44. God is speaking to the people of Israel who are not loving and honoring Him but worshiping idols and disrespecting His holy name. Yet God speaks to His people about a future when they will return to Him, and He will accept them like a sweet perfume.

How can God do this? How can God love a people who have turned their backs on Him and chosen to defile themselves by living in wickedness? How can God accept people who reek of sinful ways and deeds? How will God manifest His holiness through people who commit evil?

God faithful love and abounding grace are incredibly powerful and persistent. God tells His wayward children, “You shall know that I am the Lord, when I deal with you for My name's sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt deeds.” This is how God chooses to deal with His children — according to His name, His character, and nature, not according to their sin.

Child of God in Christ, God sees you in the light of His Son, not in the darkness of your sin. God’s Son, like God’s grace, is infinitely greater than all our sin. This truth warms my heart and gives me great hope, since I will never stop being a sinner until I go to heaven. Despite my best efforts and good intentions, there will be times I sin and come short of the glory of God; but God will not turn His back on me, and for me to know that in Christ I am fragrant incense to the Lord, only makes me love Him more.

John 6:68 “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.” Matthew 17:8 “When they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.” The Son of God is the only way, the only truth, and the only life for you and me.

Thanks to God!

He is my big brother, and my background is that he sees me in the light of His Son.

I am not worried about anything because He is there and here as well.

Thank you, Jesus!

"그리스도 안에 있는 하나님의 자녀여, 하나님은 당신을 죄의 어두움을 통해서가 아니라 주님의 아들의 빛을 통해서 당신을 보십니다."

하나님께 감사합니다!

그는 저의 큰 거목이고, 제 뒤에서 항상 저를 그의 아들을 통해 보십니다.

저는 아무것도 걱정하지 않습니다. 그는 거기에도 여기에도 계시기 때문입니다.

감사합니다, 예수님!
