Today’s Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:35-49
1 Corinthians 15:42-43 — So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.
God promises freedom from imperfection after death. One day these mortal bodies of ours will become immortal. Just as Jesus’ mortal human body died and was buried, so also our bodies will perish and return to the dust from which we are made. And just as Christ’s body was raised in power and glory, so also will our bodies.
We have earthly, natural bodies that are fit for temporal life here on earth, but they are not fit for eternal life in heaven. These bodies of ours are bodies of sin (Romans 6:6) and death (Romans 7:24). There will be no sin or death in heaven, so our bodies must be transformed from their present state into a glorified one.
At present, our bodies are a spiritual battleground where the old sin nature wars against the Holy Spirit to control us. We live sometimes as the selfish natural man and sometimes as the self-sacrificing spiritual man, somewhat like the man in the novel Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
We do not know yet what it is like to live in a body that is solely spiritual, but the Bible promises that one day we live in a spiritual, heavenly body that is free from the imperfection of sin, self-centeredness, and selfishness. We will have glorified bodies that live only to glorify our Lord and serve Him in perfect love. We will be at peace with ourselves and God and know only joy, never sorrow nor suffering or pain.
This is why we must embrace the cross daily. We must look to the sacrifice that Christ made in our place and affirm that, yes, we are dead and our true life is hidden with Christ in God. We humbly surrender ourselves to the Holy Spirit and ask Him to fill us with all the fulness of God and control us by Christ’s love today. Don’t you want to live in spiritual freedom? Let’s live crucified with Christ!

Devotional
“At present, our bodies are a spiritual battleground where the old sin nature wars against the Holy Spirit to control us.”
When I am deeply disappointed in someone and hate them so much, I think about myself.
My body is a spiritual battleground where the old sin nature control me. I was not able to resist against my flesh. If there is no power of Holy Spirit, I just let myself to be controlled by the old sin nature.
Thank you, Jesus Christ.
You saved me and died for me. So my body will be transformed into a glorified one, when He calls me that day.
I love Jesus!
