Today’s Reading: Psalm 136:1-9, 23-26
Psalm 136:1 — Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.
God promises to love His own forever. In Psalm 136, the refrain “for His steadfast love endures forever” is repeated twenty-six times. The first three times and the last time, the refrain is a response to giving thanks to God. The other twenty-two times, the refrain is a response to awesome things that God has done.
We live in a God-centered universe. Everything that God has made is a revelation of God’s greatness, creativity, power, and majesty. And in this God-centered universe, God created the human race to be the object of His love and care. This amazing revelation of God that speaks to us day and night is for our benefit.
The sun, the moon, the stars, and the planets were hung in place for our eyes to behold so that we might know something about God and bless His name. The mountains, the oceans, the skies, and all the plant and animal life on our planet were designed by God for us to delight in and see the beauty and craftsmanship of our loving Creator, so that we might desire to know the One who made us.
There are people who say, “We are not alone in this universe” and believe that there are alien beings somewhere in the universe. It is true that we are not alone. There are legions of angels, both the holy and the fallen kinds, that are invisible to our eyes, but always around us somewhere. And, best of all, God is all around us.
If you are a believer, you are never alone. God really loves you. He has made your heart His home, for the Spirit of God dwells within you. God has His eye on you and Jesus walks with you every day in the fresh mercies that He provides each morning. You are being loved constantly by perfect love that seeks to transform you into the likeness of God’s perfect, holy Son.
For God creating us and giving us this opportunity to know and be loved by Him, we should give thanks to the Lord. There is a song that says that even if God had never promised to give us eternal life in heaven, simply having the Lord in our life here on earth would be an unspeakable blessing. Having the Lord in our life, experiencing His loving care, is such a blessing in itself. But He has given us eternal life and the promise of heaven!
Give thanks to the God of heaven, for His steadfast love endures forever!

“And, best of all, God is all around us.”
This week is a week for the heads of each department in the church appointed by the pastor to respond to the Lord's call and prepare in prayer. What would it be like if I were serving in a remote area, a mission field, as the head of this department? What if I get a call one day saying that support will no longer be available? Whatever the reason, I was completely unprepared… God is here and there. He is all around! I am currently serving that calling as a department head at a ministry in Korea. Please give me a clear answer.
I love Jesus!
