God is Marching!

greatergracekorea

2 Samuel 5:24 — As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move quickly, because this will mean that the LORD has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.

God marches ahead of His people into battle. David said, “O God, when You went out before Your people, when You marched through the wasteland, the earth shook and the heavens poured down rain before God, the One on Sinai, before God, the God of Israel.” David was told in 2 Samuel 5 to wait until he heard the Lord marching ahead of him before attacking the Philistines with the army of Israel.

There are two good lessons to be learned from this story. The first is that the Lord goes before us to fight for us. The second is that we should wait on God before rushing into situations. We are involved in spiritual warfare and we must put on the whole armor of God. But let us not forget the seventh piece of the armor, which is prayer.

Prayer is the time when we receive our marching orders. Who is commanding the battle? God, right? When we spend time in prayer about situations, we give God the opportunity to act on our behalf and march ahead of us. When we pray, we also can hear from God what He wants us to do.

Sometimes, God says, “Stand still and let Me do all the fighting for you.” Other times God says, “Wait until my Spirit prompts you to go forward.” At other times God says, “Follow Me into the battle right now, for I have equipped you to be useful to Me.”

Listening skills are important for the believer. Prayer is not just talking, but also listening. David had to wait and hear the sound of God marching. Keep your spiritual ears open for the sound of God moving!

Show me your order for my situation!

Please act on my behalf and do ahead of me!

Give me a sensitive ear that I can hear your voice!
