Today’s Reading: Psalm 46

Psalm 46:10 — “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

God promises that He is and He will be. The first sin committed by human beings is recorded in Genesis chapter 3. Adam and Eve chose to be like God, but apart from God. Adam and Eve would know good and evil, but apart from God.

That is the essence of sin — thinking we can judge what is good and evil apart from God so that we can live however we desire. Sin’s roots are in the creature’s desire to usurp the authority of the Creator.

But what does God Almighty, the rightful Authority, the  true Creator say? “Be still, and know that I am God.” God says, “Stop!” God is telling us to stop trying to be the god of our own lives, because He is God, not us. God wants us to acknowledge Him as the one true God who made us and has the sovereign right to command us to listen to and obey Him.

It is such a burden for us to try and be the god of our own lives. We cannot handle the responsibility and we ruin our lives when we try to control everything and make everything work out the way we think it should be. Look at the world! Is everything the way it should be? No. It is far from the perfect world God originally created, and it is that way because people try to act like God without His wisdom, power, holiness, etc.

God promises that He will be exalted among the nations and in the earth. There is a degree to which that is happening now among those who have made God king of their lives. But there will be a day when all the nations will acknowledge God and exalt Him, and He will make everything right and everything new. For now, let us let God be God over our lives.

This is wisdom: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.(Proverbs 3:5-6).”

As we have been learning, it is our choice to obey or disobey. We can choose not to obey, but we cannot avoid consequences. God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows(Galatians 6:7).When we take matters into our hands,we often lean on our own understanding and do what is right in our sight since it seems right to a man.(Proverbs 16:25)

I would say my part of these God’s word that “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own…
