Today’s Reading: Isaiah 41:1-10
Isaiah 41:10 — Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
God promises to hold us. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God,” but the demons believe there is one God, and tremble in terror (Psalm 14:1; James 2:19). The fool who lives in pride and rebellion against the knowledge of God ought to be afraid. His choice to live as though God does not exist will result in a godless eternity in hell if he does not turn to the Lord and receive grace for salvation.
But the wise person fears the Lord, not with terror like the demons, but with awe and reverence, acknowledging God holiness, glory, and divine majesty (Psalm 111:10). To be in the presence of Almighty God as His child is to be free from all other fears.
God says to His child, “Fear not. Do not be dismayed. I am with you. I am your God. I will strengthen you, help you, and hold you with my righteous right hand.”
I remember my father teaching me how to swim. His hands were underneath me holding me up in the water. He told me not to be afraid because he was right there with me to help me. When he taught me how to ride a bicycle, he was there holding up the bicycle so I wouldn’t fall. He told me not to be afraid because he wouldn’t let go.
Did I ever fear my father? I did when I knew that I had disobeyed him or God. He was going to discipline me. But even then I loved my father because I knew that he loved me. We should have a healthy fear of God. He is our Father who loves us and holds us with His righteous right hand. When we hold God’s hand, we have nothing else to fear.

“We should have a healthy fear of God.”
Being conscious of God, who is omnipresent and exists everywhere, is something that goes beyond human limitations. Knowing that God is there no matter what happens and that God is in charge and guiding it, and sometimes fearing that God, is a healthy daily life. “Fear not, for I am with you.”
“우리는 하나님에 대한 건전한 두려움을 가져야 합니다.”
무소부재 하시고 어디에서나 존재하시는 하나님을 의식하는 일은 인간의 한계를 넘어서는 일이다 어떠한 일에도 그곳에 하나님이 계시고 하나님이 그 일을 주관하고 인도하고 계심을 알고 있는것, 때론 그 하나님을 두려워 하는것은 건강한 일상이라 여겨진다. “두려워 말라 내가 너와 함께 함이라”
