Divine Generosity

Today’s Reading: Proverbs 11:24-31

Proverbs 11:25 — Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.

God promises to reward generosity. God is generous. God has and God is everything precious that makes life worth living. All that He has and all that He is, God has freely given to us as our inheritance in Jesus Christ.

God gave His own life for us to save us from certain damnation and to make us partakers of His eternal life. Greater love and greater generosity has never been known than God’s self-sacrifice for undeserving, rebellious sinners.

We have been saved from so much and have received so much to make us like our savior and benefactor. Jesus paid the price for all our blessings and He has given them to us free and without charge. All He asks is that we freely give to others what we ourselves have been given freely.

The amazing principle of God’s economy is that those who give are rewarded by their giving. Those who bless others will be blessed somehow by God. Those who water, who help satisfy the needs of others, will also be watered and satisfied.

Another incredible principle of God’s generosity is that His reward vastly exceeds our giving. When we invest our time and treasure in God’s kingdom for the benefit of others, we do not receive 5% or 25% or even 100% interest. It would be more like receiving 10,000% interest, because God is so, so generous. We can never out-give God, so give freely of His love, His forgiveness, His grace and mercy and goodness. You will be enriched!

Devotional

“All He asks is that we freely give to others what we ourselves have been given freely.”

I freely give my talent to others what I myself have been given freely.

Nevertheless, the thing that gives me the most trouble is myself. What am I doing now after studying and learning so hard? Even if I think about it over and over again, I think there is nothing more valuable than dedicating my time and talents to the Lord who even died for me. To give what is mine without price, like His death. There is nothing more valuable than that. Thank you, Jesus!
