Diligent Faith

greatergracekorea

1 Timothy 4:15 — Be diligent in these matters and absorbed in them, so that your progress will be evident to all.

Paul wanted his son, Timothy, to be a good servant of Christ Jesus. Timothy was a young pastor who had been taught and trained by Paul and ordained by elders to serve the body of Christ. Paul gave Timothy instructions about how to live his life as a minister of the gospel and told him to be diligent.

Timothy’s diligence in adhering to the truth of the Scripture and living a pure life of love and faith would set an example for the church to follow. Paul told Timothy that if he persevered in the things he had been taught, he would ensure salvation for both himself and those who observed his life.

When we live in obedience to Christ, we save ourselves from the heartbreak and destruction that sin brings. Sanctification keeps us from living empty lives that forfeit the power and provision of Christ’s life. When we walk with Christ in the High Way of Holiness, we are safe from the snares of sin that seek to drag us down into the muck and mire of foolish, fleshly existence.

When we walk in obedience to Christ, our testimony may save unbelievers from hell and encourage believers to persevere in the Way. If unbelievers see Christ in you, they may be drawn to Him by the Holy Spirit to repent and be saved. If a brother or sister in Christ is struggling in their walk with the Lord, your example of faithfulness (not perfection) may be used by the Holy Spirit to inspire him or her to hold fast to the anchor, Jesus Christ, and keep pressing forward.

Be diligent in your faith today by the power of God’s grace. God will help you and others.
