Conquering in Christ

greatergracekorea

Revelation 2:7 —  He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

The tree of life was the other notable tree in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:9). When Adam and Eve fell, they were exiled from Eden to prevent them from eating the fruit of the tree of life (Genesis 3:22-24). Now, here in the book of. Revelation, Jesus promises that those who conquer will be allowed to eat the fruit of the tree of life.

A conqueror (an overcomer) is one who remains steadfast through trials, holding fast to faith in Christ until the end. The book of Revelation shows us that it is Christ Himself who is the conqueror. He defeats all the enemies of those who put their faith in Him.

In Revelation 5:5, Jesus is the conquering Lion of Judah who can open the seven seals on the scroll. In Revelation 17:14, Jesus is the conquering Lamb of God who defeats those who make war on Him. In 1 John 5:4-5, those who have been born of God have conquered the world by putting their faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Because Christ has conquered and overcome, the one who believes in Him also has conquered and overcome. Because of that, every believer in Christ can expect to receive the promises in Revelation made to him who overcomes and conquers. Overcoming is something God provides for us when we believe in Jesus; it is not something we earn by our own efforts. Because of that, our confidence is in Him and not in ourselves.

Objectively, you are forever an overcomer in Christ. Subjectively, by the power of God’s Word and the Holy Spirit, you can conquer temptation and sin today in your life. Fight the good fight today knowing that Christ has already won and you will eat from the tree of life someday in the paradise of God.

"It is not something we earn by our own efforts." Here is the crux of the matter. The question is, which life is to be consecrated to Him. the old self life, or the new Christ life? God can accept absolutely nothing from the old-He sees and acknowledges only that which is centered in His son, who is our life. From Green Latters.

"우리가 스스로 노력해서 얻는 것이 아닙니다." 여기 문제의 핵심이 있습니다. 문제는 어떤 삶을 그분께 헌신해야 하는가입니다. 옛 자아의 삶인가, 아니면 새 그리스도의 삶인가? 하나님은 옛 삶에서 절대적으로 아무것도 받으실 수 없습니다. 그분은 우리의 삶이신 그분의 아들 안에 중심을 둔 것만을 보시고 인정하십니다.…
