Confess Your Hope

2024/07/30 Devotional

Today’s Reading: Hebrews 10:19-25

Hebrews 10:23 — Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

God promises to be our hope. Romans 15:13 says that our God is the “God of Hope.” This means that God is the author or source of hope. In this verse, hope means the joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation. And as the old hymn says, our “hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.”

The confession of our hope is our agreement with what the Bible says about who Jesus is and what He has done to save us. Jesus is our absolute certain hope. Our salvation is sure if we have faith in Christ and depend on Him alone.

What does the Bible say we must do to receive God’s salvation? Believe the simple truth of the gospel: Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, He was buried, and He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Jesus alone is the author of salvation, our source of hope.

Don’t waver in your faith. God has made and has kept His promise to save you if you have believed the gospel message. He has given you the gift of Christ’s righteousness and eternal life.

And remember: Salvation is through faith and by God’s grace ALONE — grace plus NOTHING. Jesus did ALL the work of salvation, so confess your hope and live your daily Christian life in faith, receiving God’s grace.
