Better Life Now

Today’s Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:14-21

2 Corinthians 5:17 — Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

God promises a new life. There are people in the world today who believe that when they die, they will be reincarnated and live another life. They live with the wish that their next life will be better than the one they are living now. Unfortunately for them, reincarnation is not true. The Bible says that each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment.

If someone wants a new life, he or she must die, not physically, but spiritually. A person must die with Christ—die to their old life of sin and self-centeredness—to receive and begin a new life. This new life is located in Christ who died and rose again and lives eternally.

Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life and offered Himself in our place as the atoning sacrifice for all our sins. He took all the punishment for our sin so that we could receive all of His righteousness and be reconciled to God and start a new life.

If you are a believer and follower of Christ and have made Him your savior and king, the old person you were has passed away and you have been born again as a newly created person. You have been given a new life to lead where Jesus Christ is the center of your life.

Today we have access to the thoughts and desires of the Son of God. We can be godly, Christlike people who walk by faith and live by the grace of God enabling us to be ambassadors of God’s love. We don’t have to wish for a better life. We can live the “better life” now and forever through Christ who strengthens us.

Being an ambassador of God means becoming a trustworthy or reliable person. This is because any decision, word or action, is made on behalf of God. I believe that my identity as a Christian comes with holy responsibilities.

Thank you, Jesus!
