Access to Love

Today’s Reading: 1 John 5:6-15

Hebrews 4:16 — So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

God promises access to God. Before writing this devotional thought this morning, I prayed. I used the privilege God gave to me because of the work of Jesus on my behalf. I came boldly to the throne of our gracious God to ask Him to help me today.

Isn’t it wonderful that we can approach Almighty God any time, any place, for any reason? Have you ever needed to call a company and heard a recorded message saying that the company is closed and that you should call again during certain hours on certain days? Or have you called a company and been told by a recorded voice that all the customer service agents are too busy to take your call? This never happens when we call upon the Lord.

Under the law of Moses, the high priest could enter the presence of God behind the curtain the temple once a year. Under the new covenant of grace which Jesus inaugurated by His blood, we can enter God’s presence whenever we need to receive mercy and find grace to help us. We are so blessed to know that God hears us and that we have eternal life in the Son.

As a believer in and a follower of Jesus, you have been placed in the Son who is seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven. In Christ, you have eternal life and you are seated next to God. This goes far beyond any VVIP access that we have here to anyone or anything on earth. The Holy Spirit is in us, we are in the Son, and the Son is so close to the Father that the Son says, “The Father and I are one” (John 10:30).

We have been given exclusive access to the eternal love relationship of the Trinity. We are surrounded by the self-sacrificing, mercy and grace-giving, unending love of God. The true child of God can never be separated from this great love. So, as His so or daughter, ask God to reveal the reality of your access to His loving, holy presence right now. Go ahead. He’s listening.

Human love changes. It can never be perfect or complete. Even the love between parents and children is not perfect. This relationships can also break at any time, but anyone who has experienced and knows God's unconditional love, they definitely cherish the love with others. They know how to keep and continue to hold. I am lucky that I know there is an access to…
